My Approach

So, what should you expect if you decide to begin therapy with me? First, you're the expert on you and I trust what you feel and think. You run the show. I happen to have a few tools from my education and professional experience (more on that below)- so we'll just take those and tailor them to what you need and want. Therapy is for you and about you. During our first few sessions we will spend time talking about what you want from therapy and we will create a treatment plan together to get you to where you want to go. I'll make sure we are always checking in to see if the direction of our therapy continues to be relevant, satisfying and helpful. If it isn't, we will change it up. I welcome all feedback- this is about you remember?

Person steering a ship in choppy waters

Here's us charting the open waters of your life together!

During our work together, the waters of Cape Cod will get choppy. What can you expect from me? First, I'm always on your team- no matter what you decide to do or not do. I'm here to offer suggestions and understanding, but never to judge or tell you want to do.

That doesn't mean I'm the kind of therapist that just listens, agrees with everything you say, and asks, "How does that make you feel?" I'm second on deck- my hands are dirty and my cheeks are windburn like yours. I'm in it with you- I'm not going to let you get away with minimizing things, invalidating yourself, reinforcing old patterns, or getting stuck in unhelpful feedback loops. I will call you on that.

So, do I know what I'm doing?  I might be biased- but I've been killing it in the field since 2005. I have worked at an inpatient hospital and residential program for teens and adults with eating disorders. I have worked at many community health centers throughout my career, where I was able to work in an outpatient setting with couples and adults with eating disorders. I started my private practice on the Cape in 2020 and since then have focused solely on couples therapy and adults with eating disorders.

Along the way, I have been trained in specific models to help adults with eating disorders such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Processing Therapy for survivors of trauma. I have also been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.

All the listed items above are my tools to help you. I have been so fortunate throughout my career to have the honor of working with such amazing individuals and I have been so grateful to guide them towards satisfying relationships and recovery from eating disorders.
